Anxiety is one of those sensations that can be so unbearable that we will do whatever it takes to make it go away! We will distract ourselves through various things, eating, exercising, alcohol, drugs even. However all these distractions have a shelf life.
Here’s the thing….there is no specific cure for anxiety! If there was, we would not have psychological drive, anxiety is one of those negative emotions that has enormous positive intention.
The first step in dealing with anxiety is noticing how it affects you physically. Do you have sweaty palms, heart palpitations, shortness of breath? All of these symptoms together? Notice where it resides. Allowing yourself to become conscious around what is going on in your life, stresses at work, relationships, finances, and see if there are any links from your mind to your body when you are racing through the stressful thoughts.
Exercise is a wonderful way to manage your stress and anxiety. Yoga allows you to breathe through the various chakras, releasing any trapped energy that may be contributing to the inner quake. Being outdoors and connecting with people is ideal. When we feel vulnerable it is almost an automatic reaction to retreat and isolate ourselves until we feel strong enough to face the world again, it is this isolation that can intensify the anxiety. Remember we are built for connection and a sense of belonging, activate this!
