Out with the old, in with the new…

As I sit on the beach on my last day of holiday I can’t help but wonder what 2019 has in store for us. 2018 was a roller coaster ride both physically and emotionally for people of all ages, shapes and forms. It took its toll on most of us, but just like that “poof” it was over and now we’re sitting here almost 2 weeks into the new year!

With the new year comes a new you, well a new version of you, filled with fresh energy and motivation to take on the year ahead.

Don’t dive head first into hardcore life changes that are going to drain you and make you lose motivation fast, rather aim to make small changes that make our lives more active and healthy.

  1. Cut out one thing: not completely but keep it in check, if you’re having that chocolate every day try save it for once a week. That small amount of change will help kickstart a healthier lifestyle and allow you to keep those calories down during the week.
  2. Park far: when parking wherever you go, park far from the entrance. Those extra steps help burn more calories.
  3. Play outside: whether it’s throwing a ball or taking your dog for a walk, 30 minutes of outdoor activity help revitalize and keep our energy up.
  4. Meditate: yes I know a lot of you are going to say but it’s not ‘my thing’…. meditation doesn’t have to be sitting in a yoga pose for an hour and humming. Meditation is finding that one thing you can do a day that quiets your mind; whether it’s chilling on a balcony or pushing weights in the gym, find what works for you. A relaxed mind is a productive mind!

 

Now let’s take 2019 and make it our year!
