As a kid growing up in the 70’s and 80’s.. life involved BMX riding, playing outside, a blitz game of Atari and two hours of Ktv and Open Time on Mnet… how times have changed! Different studies are currently being conducted on examining the changes in posture, skeletal and muscular toning and shifts in kids growing up in those decades and kids in today’s times. There is even a focus on specific shifts in all humans that are functioning in today’s technological world as opposed to that old world. The advent of computers, smart phones, more tv time, more travel time, more stress… all triggers that cause evolving changes. Like in the past, the wisdom teeth and coccyx served a different purpose and were structurally very different, the future might cause significant changes in finger and hand structures, backs, necks and pelvis. Thumbs might become prolonged to allow more functioning on What’s App and texts! Already we see a massive increase in arthritis in thumb joints. Necks are becoming more curved and round shouldering from being more glued at PC screens for longer periods. Pelvis and shortening of hamstrings resulting from excessive sitting. Ankle mobility becoming more restrictive from sitting. These quick simple examples don’t even cover the extent of health risks to eyes, ears, reflexes, and other viscera or organs. All adapting to changes that we initially were not designed to handle or deal with. Technology albeit it’s massive brilliance and far reaching advances, is starting to have detrimental effects on our sacred vessels. Let’s not deal with the magnetic waves affecting the brain tissue. Interesting times ahead. How do we deal and cope! Pilates, yoga, massage, diet, and alignment, are some of the key examples to minimize trauma and pathology. However it plays out, we ain’t giving up Apple TV and Netflix !
