Biokineticist

QUALIFICATION:
  • B.A. Sports Psychology (U.J.)
  • B.A. Hons. Biokinetics (U.J.)

I grew up in a sporting family and was always involved in sport throughout school and university. I have always had an alternate view on life and the way the physical, psychological and metaphysical work hand in hand. I graduated from the University of Johannesburg in 2013 with an undergraduate in Sports Psychology and Honors in Biokinetics. I have further studied alternative forms of healing, which I include in my practice, to gain a further understanding of one’s situation at hand. I have worked with many different athletes ranging from novice to elite performers. My main passion is to work with sporting teams in both rehabilitation and high performance situations.

I believe that injuries and chronic illness affect an individual beyond the physical. The Biokineticist must help the individual overcome an injury, by providing them with the skills to process and heal from an injury, both emotionally and physically. I further believe that an individualized treatment program is an essential part of injury management and prevention, and a holistic approach is the key in the treatment of any injury and improvement of quality of life.

Benefits of Biokinetics:

  • Supervised, appropriate exercise programmes that can assist in overcoming many health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiac and lung diseases, as well as people struggling with weight.
  • Repairs muscle strength, balance and movement (flexibility) after an injury or orthopedic problem.
  • Correct education in lifting methods and everyday tasks can help to overcome certain problems, which can also avoid/eliminate surgery as a form of treatment.
